The Heat Transfer module explores the fundamental mechanisms by which thermal energy moves due to temperature differences: conduction, convection, and radiation. It begins with an introduction to heat transfer concepts, thermal properties of materials, and the governing laws.
Conduction – Heat transfer within solids or between solid surfaces in contact, described by Fourier’s Law. Topics include thermal conductivity, steady-state and transient conduction, and thermal resistance networks.
Convection – Heat exchange between a solid surface and a fluid (liquid or gas), classified into natural and forced convection. It covers the Nusselt number, boundary layer theory, and convective heat transfer equations.
Radiation – Energy transfer by electromagnetic waves, independent of a medium. Topics include blackbody radiation, emissivity, view factors, and Stefan-Boltzmann Law.
